The 6th Chinese Medical Affairs Conference (CMAC) was held in Beijing from April 7-9, 2021, under the theme of "Cohesion Innovation, The Medical Breakthrough", with 20 sessions, attracting 2000+ medical colleagues and 350+ senior speakers. This annual conference, with "Medicine" as the main line, focused on hot topics and pain points on the basis of previous annual conferences.
Enterprise display - technology-enabled full service one-stop solution
Our booth
As a new CRO empowering the clinical study industry with digital information technology, Elixir Clinical Research received widespread attentions during the conference, attracting hundreds of industry colleagues to make inquires. Our business experts introduced service highlights and features to clients and partners in great details, and proposed targeted innovative solutions.
Academic sharing - Leveraging distributed research networks to support RWE projects
Our sharing
In the afternoon of April 8, Dr. Yuji Feng, Associate General Manager and Head of Real-world Studies Department of Elixir Clinical Research, delivered a keynote speech on "Leveraging Distributed Research Networks to Support RWE Projects" in the main session of "Knowledge Stewardship: Evidence Chain as the Core of Medicine".
Effective use of real-world data can better facilitate the process of new drug development from multiple aspects, but there are different degrees of problems in current status of real-world data, including insufficient strict quality control in data recording, collection and storage, incomplete data, inconsistent data standards and data models, etc., which have hindered the effective real-world data generation and subsequent targeted use.
In response to this current situation, Dr. Yuji Feng proposed the concept of establishing a distributed research network based on the Common Data Model (CDM) to investigate the data organization, access technology and model design of the network, as well as the ideas and methods of how to efficiently collect and utilize multi-source real-world data for drug safety, efficacy and economic evaluation, to maximize the benefits and minimize the risks of drug use. CDM can be used to facilitate fast analysis of multiple databases and analysis of different distributed networks.
Leveraging its strengths in clinical study digitization, Elixir Clinical Research has collaborated with many Chinese and international pharmaceutical companies in the past few years to conduct post-marketing key monitoring services for several antineoplastic drugs using real-world data to assess drug safety and efficacy. Elixir works with top oncology organizations in China to form a structured, standardized and traceable patient-centered database using the technology and resources of Intelligent Clinical Trial Platform. It provides valuable real-world evidence for medical institutions and pharmaceutical companies to conduct relevant clinical study, clinical decision-making support, and operation management.
Roundtable discussion - multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary, from data to evidence
Our discussion
One of the keywords of CMAC annual meeting this year is "Cohesion Innovation". Digital thinking is a basic quality that a practitioner in medicine needs to have today, and an evidence chain requires multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary cooperation. It's no longer a hot topic today whether RWE projects should be combined with digitalization, but how to "make it happen", turning it from a piece of data to a piece of evidence.
Innovation leads development and technology makes the future possible. We look forward to establishing closer communication and connection among more companies and institutions in the future to generate more effective data for evidence-based medicine and new drug R&D, and achieve cohesion innovation.
